Users of an existing IT product are clearly unhappy with their user experience.
The general quality of software is low due to many defects in the production environment.
There is an internal department for software testing, but their resources are insufficient for comprehensive testing.
Defects of varying severity are present even in IT products that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to develop. Users experience problems at all levels, either it's a small startup or global corporation.
Before working with the customer, Loovatech engineers study all the initial documentation for the IT product. In an ideal world, every product should have thorough specifications, and we prefer to build on it during functional testing. But this is an ideal world, which often differs from reality.
First issues begin to arise at this stage. When working on a project implemented by third-party developers, you often cannot rely on the original documentation. Loovatech experience shows that more than half of IT products have fragmentary and outdated documentation. The original project documentation is often lost and unavailable.
If, however, the documentation is available and is up-to-date, we conduct testing based on the initial requirements. Otherwise, we conduct exploratory testing, guided by our own experience and generally accepted practices for designing software products. Our team can also update software documentation during this process.
As soon as documentation is examined, Loovatech team begins to prepare a list of test scenarios. At this stage, we determine metrics for assessing tests, as well as the environment for functional testing.
Correct scenarios are essential to successful testing process. Loovatech engineers prepare metrics for every scenario, define expected results, criteria for passing tests and exact steps for each test, prioritize tests among team members and specify other parameters.
We also define environment parameters for each test, including a list of devices, operating systems, browsers and their versions, and other details. The final document with detailed scenarios is agreed upon with the customer.
Loovatech prepares detailed reporting documentation. In addition to detailed scenario description, its implementation steps, and metrics of the actual result, our team offers detailed proposals for improving the software product. This happens if the result does not meet generally accepted practices or user expectations based on our assessment.
Unlike specialized testing companies, Loovatech itself is engaged in turnkey development, and this is our core activity. We can look at your internal development processes to understand the exact cause of quality issues. We understand third-party developers like no other — we speak the same language with them.
In mid-2016, customer contacted Loovatech team with a need to update public section of educational portal.
By that time, the portal had already been launched by another contractor and was experiencing some difficulties, including:
Project was successfully released in October 2017. The structure of the IT solution was modified. Loovatech turned the portal into a hybrid of two integrated systems.
Despite the increased complexity of the IT architecture, the portal has become simple, modern and fast. The educational resource provided a seamless experience to end users without having to authenticate several times or switch between different sections.
Customers received a rich toolkit for content management. The system was augmented with new functional features and properties for the use of marketing tools.
